A-Z Letter Q is for Quail Eggs

Q is for Quail eggs. More and more people are using quail eggs.  Chefs are using them in their restaurants, people are buying them and I am also seeing them on TV shows.  A question of mine is where do you get these miniature eggs? Maybe in an expensive specialty store which is no where near my house? Tell me your opinion on those cute little eggs. Would you eat them or are they too far out from a chicken egg for you? Also, another "egg" I have frequently been seeing- is the gummy fried egg! I saw them a couple of times of different cooking shows, and I recently saw them in a store when I was out of my home state. I had to pick them up. Not sure what the heck I'm going to do with them yet, but I had to buy them! LOL Have you ever encountered gummy fried or quail eggs? What do you think about them?

  1. I bet you could find them at large health food stores. I don't eat eggs often, but always willing to try a new one.
    Have a Happy Easter, Faith!

  2. Never heard of the gummy fried eggs? Quail eggs seem hardly worth the bother they are so all. I wonder if they really add something to the flavor, texture, or appearance of the dish, or are they simply a novelty?

    1. Not sure what the draw is yet; I have not tasted nor cooked with them! But I keep seeing them again and again on menus and on cooking shows!

  4. Quail eggs huh? Interesting. I don't think I'd ever eat them... then again I don't eat hard-boiled (chicken) eggs so I'd be the wrong person to ask.

Hope you have a happy Easter! :)

    1. Thank you! I hope you had a great Easter too.

Not sure what the big deal is about them either; I really have to try to cook with them to check out the flavor and what the draw is!

  5. Quail eggs are great! They taste very similar to chicken eggs, just a little firmer when boiled. If you have an Asian specialty grocer near you, you might be able to find them there. I didn't see many of them when I lived in Canada, but I can pick them up most anywhere in Japan.
